Press Operator
JOB PURPOSE and FUNCTION:
Press Operator is responsible for running press machines at top quality and speed to ensure efficient operations that meet or exceed customer requirements and quality standards. To meet this level of role must demonstrate senior level experience within the work environment.
The position
- Directs and coordinates the activities of the press crew to support operational excellence
- Monitors product quality while minimizing waste and rework.
- Is responsible for equipment maintenance.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Performs minor repairs and also all press maintenance that needs to be done on the machine including water, roller, weekly, monthly and also housekeeping of the machine.
- Troubleshoots and corrects problems in a timely and efficient manner.
- Coordinates Operator and Helper roles to maintain schedule and plan for daily and weekly production needs.
- Effectively communicates the status of jobs and machines at shift-change.
- Cross trains on all equipment in the department.
- Maintains and records daily clean up and housekeeping of equipment and general area.
In support of the Heeter organization as a whole, the following is important for every role:
- Performs other duties as assigned to support needs of the business. May consist of assisting a peer department or function temporarily or long term
- Follows all standard operating processes and procedures, work instructions, and ISO requirements
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Observes established safe working and housekeeping procedures; promptly corrects hazardous situations
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Demonstrated proficiency running, repairing and general maintenance of offset press machines. Applies knowledge and skills of printing on various substrates, envelopes, stock, plastics and coated/uncoated stock.
- Effectively utilizes job tickets to confirm the required materials and specifications for each job, matches printing to approved impositions and die lines, and matches proof and color throughout run through samples.
- Fork lift experience preferred.
- Basic proficiency in using software and computer systems needed to perform the role: Internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), General office equipment and management information systems (Pace).
- Mechanical inclination with basic math and capability to convert fractural measurements to decimal.
- Demonstrate flexibility in learning new aspects of the job, new equipment, new processes and scheduling: start times/overtime.
- Ability to perform in a fast paced, team environment demonstrating cooperation, problem solving, customer service, creativity, flexibility and team building skills.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
MINIMUM YEARS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experience running and managing an offset press required, prefer at least 4 years demonstrated success.

Bindery Operator
JOB PURPOSE and FUNCTION:
The Bindery Operator finishes high-quality products by operating equipment such as saddle stitchers, folders, cutters, die cutters, and gluers. Sets up and operates equipment efficiently to meet or exceed customer requirements and quality standards. Monitors the product for quality while minimizing waste and rework. Responsible for equipment maintenance and maintaining a clean work area. Troubleshoots and corrects problems in a timely manner.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Examines job ticket and instructions to determine run sequence and schedule.
- Set up job to minimize downtime and waste, ensure each run meets or exceeds production objectives.
- Prepares and checks machines for proper set up before a run begins and during runs.
- While running jobs, quality inspect by making 100 sheet pulls. Inspect each one for any defects or imperfections.
- Accurately documents production counts and material consumption accurately while limiting waste of material and supplies in PACE in a timely manner
- Maintains quality and production standards
- Effectively communicates the status of jobs and machines at shift-change to ensure smooth transition
- Monitors and notifies manager of inventory and supply needs on a timely basis
- Troubleshoots and corrects mechanical and/or printing problems

Mailing Operator
JOB PURPOSE and FUNCTION:
Set up, operate and maintains mailing equipment. Produce a quality final product in a timely manner. Perform Machine maintenance and maintain a clean work area. The mail operations include addressing, sealing, stamping, folding, stuffing, and affixing postage to outgoing mail or packages. The Mail Operator also keeps track of necessary records and completed forms and often performs mail handwork tasks.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Follow schedule and instructions from department manager and or shift supervisor and ensures mail is process according to USPS regulations.
- Read and follow instructions on job ticket.
- Responsible for quality control, meeting production goals, following job set up according to ticket and specifications and finally running jobs to specifications.
- While running jobs, quality inspect by making random pulls. Inspect each one for any defects or imperfections and limits waste of materials and supplies.
- Maintenance of mail operating equipment including addressing equipment, and inserting equipment.
